Six arrested in Adeje for falsifying residency documents for immigrants

The National Police have arrested six people in Adeje in the south of Tenerife, for belonging to a criminal organization, favouring illegal immigration, and falsifying residency documents for various amounts up to 3,000 euros per person that bought them.

The police operation, called Operation Daya, began after some residence files were found on the Canaries database, with signs of falsified documents attached to them, indicating that the people they related to were staying in Tenerife illegally.

After carrying out investigations, the National Police discovered the existence of several fictitious SL companies, without any activity, that had issued fake employment contracts, false social security registrations, and any other document that was necessary to prove the requirements demanded by current legislation for foreigners to become residents.

As a result of the operation, the police have arrested a Moroccan, a Ukrainian, and four other people (no details released), all of whom have been legal residents in Spain for several years.

The six of them dealt with immigrants of varying nationalities who wanted to obtain residency to stay on the island but didn’t have the correct paperwork to do so, providing them with false documentation in exchange for large sums of money.

So far, 38 fraudulent files have been identified by cross-referencing the different documents attached to them, which have been sent to the Government Sub-delegation in Santa Cruz in an investigation carried out in collaboration with the Ministries of Labour and Social Security and the Oficina de Extranjeros.

The police believe that there are many more files in the system that will be discovered as being fraudulent, meaning the gang will have earned several hundred thousand euros from the crimes, and have passed the detainees and the police report to the judicial authorities for processing.
