Gran Canaria is about to get a major boost in the UK, thanks to a new partnership with Norwich City Football Club and UD Las Palmas. The collaboration aims to promote the island across both Spain and the UK throughout the 2024/2025 football season.
The agreement was signed at UD Las Palmas’ facilities in Barranco Seco, with key figures present, including Carlos Álamo, the Tourism Minister of Gran Canaria, Pablo Llinares, General Director of Tourism Gran Canaria, Patricio Viñayo, UD Las Palmas’ General Director, and Sam Jeffrey, Norwich City’s Commercial and Marketing Director.
The deal targets two key markets: Spain, through La Liga’s top division, and the UK, via Norwich City, who play in the Championship, England’s second division.
Norwich will prominently feature the Gran Canaria logo on their kits and share video content and advertisements during their televised and non-televised home games.
This collaboration also includes a social media campaign with the title Getting to Know Gran Canaria, offering digital content to engage UK audiences.
As part of the collaboration, the Norwich City team will travel to Gran Canaria for a friendly match against UD Las Palmas. There’s also the possibility of hosting training camps on the island and developing the club’s academy program, promoting exchanges in youth football development and even organising bilingual football camps.
This partnership represents a significant promotional tool for Gran Canaria in one of its largest tourism markets, the UK, leveraging Norwich City’s deep connection with its fan base to showcase the island as a top travel destination.
