Nightmare on a flight to Tenerife: drunk, smoking and urinating on a seat

Passengers are taking to social media talking of the ‘nightmare’ they experienced on an EasyJet flight from Liverpool to Tenerife last week, on which two people caused problems by being drunk, smoking on the plane, and one of them even urinated in her seat as she was so drunk.

One of the passengers on the flight, Hans Mahrla, age 49, said in the Liverpool Echo “It was hell, a female passenger was so drunk she could hardly stand up, she was waddling down the aisle annoying other people, drinking from a bottle and smoking in the plane's toilets”, something that is strictly prohibited and carries a big fine.

“Cabin crew tried to do something but she just ignored them. On the tannoy they were saying that it is forbidden to drink from the bottles they had bought in the airport shop, but nothing”.

The crew found "several cigarette butts" in one of the plane's toilets, while, due to the chaos, the pilot said that we would land in Lisbon in Portugal: "Then, the woman began to kick anyone who approached her, in addition to threatening other passengers. None of us knew what to do."

However, the worst was yet to come. The diversion to Lisbon was made so that the woman in question could be escorted off the plane by the Portuguese police. Eventually, after an hour and a half of waiting on the tarmac at Lisbon airport, the flight to Tenerife was allowed to continue on its way, but another incident prevented this.

"A man, almost in an alcoholic coma, wanted to go to the toilet and, after being prevented by the crew because the plane was still on the ground, he urinated in his seat, and he was taken off the plane too," says Hans Mahrla. "When we finally arrived in Tenerife we all applauded, the flight had been a real nightmare."

EasyJet has acknowledged the facts, announcing that they will continue not to tolerate "any attitude that is dangerous to passengers or crew" inside one of their planes, as in this case, with these two individuals.

It’s hard to understand why Spain, and the Canary Islands, are getting to the point where they are openly admitting they don’t want this type of tourist coming to the country anymore!
