Masca locals say that crows would give away Jay Slaters location if he’s dead in the valley

Residents of Masca have spoken with the British press over the last couple of days, which is still closely following the progress of the investigation into the disappearance of Jay Slater, who was last seen on the morning of June 17th after leaving the Airbnb rented holiday home that two men, also British, had rented in the village.

The 19-year-old left a party at Papagayo nightclub in Playa de Las Americas with these two men, where he had gone with two friends that he was sharing an apartment with in Los Cristianos. The family have ruled out rumours that their son lost the key to the apartment, as has been speculated over the last few days.

However, Slater was last seen leaving the property in Masca in the early hours of the morning on June 17th, and his last known location was Teno Rural Park, near Masca, where he called his friend, Lucy Law, saying that he would try to walk back to Los Cristianos.

British media such as the Manchester Evening News have been in the area where Jay’s trail goes missing. There they spoke to Irene and Manolo, local residents of Masca, who expressed their surprise and concern about the decision to return on foot to Los Cristianos, saying: “We believe that something strange has happened here.”

Manolo believes that Jay Slater is no longer there in the Masca area. “We have seen the search teams. A lot of people have been looking for him, a lot of police units. However, if he was here, the crows would have seen him and given away his location. As soon as the crows see a dead animal, like a goat or something similar, the crows flock to it,” he said.

The Guardia Civil is keeping all lines of investigation open.
