A 30-year-old man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil in Fuerteventura for his alleged involvement in at least nine thefts from shops in the tourist town of Corralejo, with stolen goods valued at over €1,080.

According to investigators, the man is suspected of repeatedly targeting local businesses between January and May this year.

He was stealing items such as perfumes, alcoholic drinks, and luxury Iberian food products. He reportedly used the same method in each case, disabling alarms when possible and concealing the items in his backpack or clothing. He also tended to wear similar clothing during each theft, which helped shopkeepers and police identify him.

The investigation was triggered after several business owners noticed a pattern of thefts and reported their concerns to the Guardia Civil's main post in Corralejo. Officers reviewed security camera footage and used prior records to identify the suspect, who was already known to authorities for similar offences.

Earlier this year, the same man had been arrested in connection with 17 other shop thefts in the north of the island, further reinforcing the case against him.
