Covid update: 117 new cases, no deaths, incidence rates drop for the islands

The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has confirmed 117 new cases of coronavirus today, taking the total number of cases in the Canary Islands to 56,108 with 1,777 active, of which 43 are admitted to ICU and 208 remain hospitalized. In the last 24 hours there have been no Covid related deaths detected in the Islands.

Tenerife continues to be the most infected island and has the most new cases again with 72 (61%) today, followed by 25 in Lanzarote, 19 in Gran Canaria, 1in Fuerteventura, and none in La Palma, La Gomera, or El Hierro. The Accumulated Incidence rate over 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 35.20 and over 14 days in 77.30 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

They have also confirmed that the outbreak that in El Hierro that caused the spike in cases, is officially closed today by the General Directorate of Public Health, and it is expected that the last person active from this outbreak will be medically discharged in the next few days.
