It almost seems as though it’s becoming a daily occurrence, as air traffic controllers have confirmed yet another flight from the UK that has requested police presence and priority landing at the Tenerife South airport due to a problem with passengers on board.
This time it is an easyJet flight, number U22303, which departed from Luton airport at 1.55pm heading for Tenerife. However, when starting to approach the island, the captain requested the police due to a fight between three passengers on board, which is once again said to be fuelled by alcohol.
When the Airbus A320 landed just after 6.30pm, the National Police were waiting and boarded the plane before anyone was allowed to disembark so that they could escort the guilty parties from the plane for questioning.
As is becoming usual in these circumstances, rather than fining them locally, they will be sent back to the UK on the next available flight without having their holiday.
As is protocol in these instances, air traffic controllers cleared the approach for them to land as quickly and safely as possible, and they signed their tweet #safetyfirst.
