Thousands of extra airline seats are being added between the Canary Islands to cope with increased demand over the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend.
Binter has announced 68 additional flights providing 5,500 extra seats compared with its normal schedule on the main departure and return days.
The additional capacity will be concentrated on Friday 9th, Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th October.
Across the entire five-day period from Friday to Tuesday, the airline is scheduled to operate 1,194 inter-island flights offering 88,032 seats.
LANZAROTE AND FUERTEVENTURA ROUTES BOOSTED
Some of the biggest increases directly affect Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
Connections between Tenerife North and Fuerteventura will receive eight additional flights, increasing available capacity on the route by around 14%.
The Tenerife North-Lanzarote route will also receive eight additional flights, representing an increase of around 13% compared with the airline's normal October programme.
Two extra flights are also being added between Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.
Other strengthened routes include Tenerife North-El Hierro and Gran Canaria-La Palma.
MORE THAN 20,000 SEATS ON FRIDAY
Friday 9th October will see 276 inter-island flights offering more than 20,308 seats.
On Saturday, Binter has scheduled 224 flights with 16,562 seats, followed by 190 flights and 13,760 seats on Sunday.
The biggest increase compared with a normal week comes on Monday 12th October, when the airline will operate 264 inter-island services offering 19,324 seats.
A further 240 flights and 18,078 seats are scheduled for Tuesday as travellers return following the Bank Holiday weekend.
The airline says the reinforcement is designed to accommodate increased inter-island travel and support domestic tourism during one of the busier travel periods of the month.
