Latest statistics from the Ministry of Health show that people aged between 40 and 49 years old are the ones that have been infected the with coronavirus in the Canary Islands, 8,280 cases in that age group since the pandemic began. Regarding deaths, people over 80 years of age are the most affected, as 174 men and 175 women in that age group have died, from just 1,941 positives, which represents a death rate of 18%.
Covid-19 also largely affects other age groups, particularly the 30-39 year range, with 7,752 people infected on the islands since the pandemic began. The age group between 20 and 29 is also worrying, with 7,649 people affected. The next group with the most cases is those over 50 years of age up to 59, with 6,955 cases so far.
Those under 20 who have suffered the disease in the Islands add up to a total of 5,082 cases, while those between 60 and 69 add up to 4,319 positives. The population between 70 and 79 totals 2,644, while among children under ten years old, there have been 2,746 positives.
