The Canary Islands had 414,244 foreign tourists in July, 92% more than in 2020

The Canary Islands received 414,244 international tourists in July this year, 92.1% more than in the same month of 2020, but less than a quarter of those in July 2019, when it reached 1,031,662, according to data published this morning (Wednesday) by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The number of foreigners who have travelled to the archipelago from January to July only reaches 1,167,831, when two years before it was 7,636,899, and in fact, it is 60.4% lower than that of the same period of 2020, which included almost three months of lockdown.

The latest Statistics on Tourist Movements in Frontur Borders, released by the INE, reveals that the main country of origin of foreign tourists who came to the islands in July was Germany, from where 115,842 tourists visited the archipelago.
