The Canary Islands has had its fourth consecutive day today without any Covid related deaths in the archipelago, while the new infections in the last 24 hours are 144, mean that the total number of cases is 53,103 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Of the new cases, 88 were in Tenerife; 47 in Gran Canaria, 4 in Lanzarote and 1 in La Palma. In the rest of the islands, i.e. El Hierro, Fuerteventura and La Gomera no new infections were detected, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health.
There are currently 334 people hospitalized, of which 73 are in the ICU and 261 are in wards, leaving 3,037 people in home isolation, of 3,370 active cases in the islands.
Earlier today the Minister of Health for the Canary Islands, Blas Trujillo, announced that Tenerife has gone down to Level 2 due to a downward trend in data, with immediate effect until another review next Tuesday, May 11th. This means the current levels for each of the islands are as follows:
