Covid update: Only 109 infections and two deaths in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands have registered 109 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, so the accumulated total number of cases in the islands now rises to 47,368 with 4,670 active, of which 81 are admitted to ICU and 283 remain hospitalized, according to data from the Ministry of Health this afternoon.

There has also been two Covid related deaths of an 82-year-old woman in Gran Canaria and a 74-year-old man in Tenerife, both with previous pathologies. The total number of deaths now amounts to 679, of which 376 have been in Tenerife; 234 in Gran Canaria; 48 in Lanzarote; 10 in Fuerteventura; 6 on La Palma; 4 in El Hierro, and 1 in La Gomera.

The Accumulated Incidence over 7 days (IA7) has now dropped to 55.75 for the archipelago, and over 14 days is at 123.81. To date, a total of 970,739 PCR tests have been carried out on the islands, of which 18,730 correspond to the last seven days. Of these, 1,767 have been carried out in the last 24 hours.

By islands, Gran Canaria has added the most again with 61 new cases in the last 24 hours and a total of 19,630 cases, with 1,872 active; Tenerife adds 40 new infections and has a total of 19,986 accumulated cases with 2,435 active; Lanzarote adds 3 new cases as does Fuerteventura, and La Palma adds 2 new ones. There were no new cases in La Gomera or El Hierro recorded today.
