Work on the Tenerife Motor Circuit track will begin in September

The Minister of Transport for the Tenerife Cabildo, Enrique Arriaga, announced yesterday (Wednesday) that the work will begin on building the actual track for the Tenerife Motor Circuit, after four modifications of the projects were officially approved and published in the BOP (Boletin Oficial de la Provincia).

“The project will go out to tender this month, will be awarded in June, and work will start in September”, confirmed Arriaga, who explained that the modifications to the project for the track were necessary due to changes in the regulations, to make Formula 1 and Moto GP testing viable on it.

However, it will take longer before the work on the southern access to the circuit, the stands, and other facilities, can be tendered, because these works require the mandatory environmental impact report, which Arriaga hopes can be overcome without setbacks.

As published in the BOP, "the modified project of the speed track in the Tenerife International Motor Circuit is drawn up by Gestur Canarias, with a favourable supervision report dated November 29, 2022, with an execution budget by contract ascending to the amount of 37,381,841.87 euros, coinciding with the bidding base budget, (7% IGIC included) and an execution period of 30 months from the day following the formalization of the certificate of verification of the redefinition”.

OTHER CHANGES:
The three other approved modifications, which appear in the BOP, are those referring to the avenue defence plan (6,261,227.54 euros), the second phase of the northern access (4,493,590.14 euros) and the paddock esplanade and mobile stands, with a budget of 8,319.844.89 euros and 18 months of execution from the reconsideration act.
