The spokesperson for the PACMA animal association, Yolanda Morales, shared a video on Sunday from a Facebook user called Shakira Dorta Alfaro, who had recorded someone trying to abandon a dog in the south of Tenerife on Saturday, in which you can see the poor animal chasing the car of its owner as it accelerates up the street so as not to be left behind.
A denuncia has been filed with the Guardia Civil against the action of the driver, claiming that the driver of the green Fiat Punto in the video, thought to be a woman, threw the dog out of the car window on a street in Granadilla de Abona, and then started to drive off leaving it behind.
After being shouted at by the people who took the video, she stopped the car several streets away, let the dog back into the car, and drove off. Their whereabouts are currently unknown.

Morales pointed out that they have no more information to date and that don’t know if the dog is still in the hands of this person, who could face a fine of up to 15,000 euros for abandonment, as this type of action is classed as being a very serious offense according to Law 8/1991 of Protection of Animals of the Canary Islands.
Despite the fact that the number plate can be seen in the video, PACMA says they are collecting data on the alleged offender to assist the police with their investigation and don’t only want a fine for the person responsible, but the precautionary confiscation of the dog, before it ends up in a ditch.
“The objective of sharing the video is to raise awareness about how serious and reprehensible it is to carry out an act of this type; trying to locate this person so they can inspect them and remove any animals in their care, and of course, save the life of the dog, whose end will not be pleasant if he is not found in time because they will find a way to get rid of him“, said Morales.
Finally, she urges anyone who has any information about the whereabouts of the animal or the driver to contact PACMA on social media.
