Around thirty people got together for a 'rave' over the weekend on La Caleta beach in Adeje, a specially protected area that has been declared a Site of Scientific Interest. The group put up some speakers, a mixing desk, and with a generator, played heavy techno music for a good part of the day.
As you can see in the video, there were also several groups camping in the area in about twenty tents, which is also prohibited, however, it is rare to see this these days as residents of Adeje have denounced culprits countless times.
some of the witnesses claim that the group had tried to organize the party at La Tejita, in Granadilla de Abona, but they were moved on by police patrolling the area and headed straight for Caleta instead.
According to the authorities, an area of 78 hectares is protected, to “conserve and maintain a relevant coastal space that serves as a refuge for threatened species of seabirds, as well as waders and migratory birds. The cliffs, the coves, and the beach of La Caleta make up a landscape of enormous relevance.”
Unfortunately, human activity has degraded this space and, from what is seen, prohibited activities continue to be taking place that damage the terrain. Not only is the environment damaged by camping, but waste is left behind and the terrain is ruined.
