VIDEO: A waitress is run over and injured by an electric scooter

The waitress of a restaurant in Vecindario, in Gran Canaria, has been injured after she was knocked over by two people on an electric scooter as they sped through the restaurant as she was carrying plates of food to a table.

The driver of the scooter was breaking several laws by having her son on the scooter as a passenger, riding it at high speed on the pavement, not wearing any protective headwear, and speeding through a restaurant terrace.

As you can see in the CCTV video the waitress was completely oblivious to the scooter coming as she was approaching a table of diners carrying plates of food, when she was brutally knocked over not having any time to react.

The young boy was also injured in the accident and part of the video is obscured because he is a minor. Police are investigating the incident and the driver, whose details haven’t been released, is facing a possible fine for her actions.

The use of electric scooters is included in new traffic laws that have come into effect, and they are not supposed to be ridden on public footpaths or parks, helmets must be worn, and they are designed for one person.
