Since the access roads to the Teide National Park were re-opened, residents and tourists alike have been chosen to head to the highest point in Spain to play in the snow, make family memories, and take some spectacular photos.
A snowy Teide welcomed the people of Tenerife in the early hours of Boxing Day (Monday) after the forecasts predicted meteorological instability, especially in the western Islands.
The volume of snow led to guests at the Las Cañadas parador being evacuated to other hotels below the snow level as all access roads to the national park were closed.
However, yesterday, saw the calm after the storm with Teide looking magnificent in all her glory sporting her ‘hat’, a phenomenon created by cloud formations and winds meeting from various directions at altitude.
