Ryanair has confirmed that it will close check-in desks and baggage drop 60 minutes before flight departures, starting from Tuesday 10th November, instead of the current 40-minute cut-off.
The aim is to get passengers at the airport earlier so they have more time to clear airport security and passport control, particularly during busy periods.
They hope this will reduce the number of passengers missing flights after being delayed in queues, which in some cases has left them unable to board on time.
More Time for Airport Procedures
According to Ryanair, the updated deadline will help ensure passengers can pass through security checks and reach their boarding gates without unnecessary stress.
The airline also highlighted ongoing improvements to airport processes, including the rollout of additional self-service check-in points. These are expected to be available in more than 95% of the airports it operates in from October.
Focus on Busy Travel Periods
Ryanair's CMO, Dara Brady, said the changes are designed to improve the passenger experience, particularly during peak travel times when queues can become significantly longer.
“This will allow our customers more time to pass through security and passport control and reach their boarding gate on time, especially during busy periods when queues at airports can be longer,” he said.
Passengers are advised to arrive earlier than usual and allow sufficient time to complete all pre-flight procedures under the new rules, especially if travelling from the UK to EU destinations.
