A woman aged around 60 has died after being rescued from the sea at Las Teresitas Beach in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Emergency services received several calls just before 7.00pm yesterday (Wednesday) reporting that a woman had been pulled from the water and required urgent medical assistance.

People at the beach began administering first aid before Red Cross lifeguards continued cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

A specialist ambulance was sent to the beach, where paramedics carried out advanced resuscitation efforts. Despite their attempts, the woman could not be saved and was pronounced dead.

National and local police officers also attended, assisting emergency personnel and carrying out the necessary procedures.

Beachgoers are advised to follow lifeguard instructions, observe warning flags and call 112 immediately if they see anyone in difficulty in the water.
