Today (Saturday) has been a grim day on Tenerife’s roads with four accidents in an hour, between midday and 1:00pm, resulting in one person killed and nine injured, including two children, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
A motorcyclist dies after crashing into a rock.
A 58-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred on the TF-565 road in the municipality of Vilaflor, which is the main road heading to Arona from Mount Teide.
The tragic accident happened at around 12:25pm, when the 1-1-2 emergency call centre received an alert informing that a motorcyclist had left the road and had crashed into a large rock at kilometre 4.8 of the TF-565.
Upon arrival at the scene, paramedics could do nothing to save his life and shortly after confirmed his death due to the seriousness of the injuries he sustained.
A child is injured in a car-motorcycle collision.
A 45-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy were injured in an accident between a car and a motorbike in Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of Tenerife, earlier today.
This accident happened just after midday on the main highway of the town, resulting in injuries to the father and son on the motorbike. CECOES immediately activated the necessary emergency resources to the location given, and SUC medical personnel treated the two of them before they were taken to the Hospiten Bellevue University Hospital with moderate injuries for further treatment.
A woman crashes into a wall.
At 12:20pm, a 25-year-old woman crashed into a wall on the Bajamar highway requiring medical assistance for various moderate injuries. After being stabilised, she was transferred to the HUC Hospital for treatment.
At this stage, it’s not known how she lost control or why the car suddenly veered in a different direction into the wall.
Six injured in a multiple collision.
At just before 1:00pm, 112 received a call informing them that several cars had crashed into each other on the TF-5 motorway in the municipality of La Guancha.
Six people aged from 4 to 50 years old were all injured and needed treatment by the emergency services. four of whom were transferred to the Hospiten Bellevue University Hospital, all of them with minor injuries.
