The Spanish National Police have apprehended a 44-year-old Italian fugitive in Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, who has an active European Arrest Warrant against him issued by the Italian judicial authorities for his alleged involvement in an attempted murder and severe bodily harm case, offences for which he could face up to seven years in an Italian prison.
National Police investigators, in collaboration with the central units of the General Directorate of the Police for international cooperation, received information about the potential presence of the fugitive in the south of the island.
In light of the severity of the crimes for which he was wanted in Italy, the National Police initiated an urgent operation to locate the fugitive, as there was a concern that he might try to evade capture or flee the country. They successfully managed to locate him at the premises of a company situated in the municipality of Adeje.
Once the police confirmed his presence at the company's facilities, they proceeded to arrest him and subsequently took him into police custody, where he was brought before the Central Examining Court No. 5 of the National High Court in Madrid. Following this, he has been remanded in custody pending his extradition to Italy.
