A four-car accident late last night on the TF-1 motorway by kilometre point 90 in Guía de Isora, claimed the life of one woman with six others injured, but remarkably a child under 2 years old escaped without a scratch.
The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an urgent call at 2:53am this morning (Sunday), informing them that four cars had been involved in a collision, so they dispatched all the necessary resources to the scene of the accident.
Firefighters were the first ones there and made sure that the batteries of all the vehicles were disconnected to avoid fire before they freed one of the drivers who was trapped inside his car.
Paramedics then treated six people for various degrees of injuries suffered in the accident and confirmed the death of one woman who had suffered a serious head injury in the pile-up. They also checked over a small child who didn’t have any injuries at all.
After their initial assessments, two women aged 19 and 20 years old with leg injuries were taken to Hospiten Sur for further treatment, as was the young child for routine observation.
Likewise, a man and a woman, both aged 44 years old, were taken to Quirón Costa Adeje Hospital with lower limb and neck injuries, and according to the report, both are safe from major complications.
Lastly, a 48-year-old man, also with leg injuries, was transferred by medicalized ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
The carriageway was closed for several hours during the night whilst the Highway Maintenance Service carried out cleaning work on the road, and the Guardia Civil carried out the corresponding reports to find the cause of the accident. It is believed that some of them were on their way home from the fireworks display in Puerto de Santiago.
