Eight detainees in the drug raid where a dog was shot in San Isidro

Following on from the story earlier today (Wednesday) about the police shooting a dog in San Isidro in the south of Tenerife, it has been confirmed that eight people have been arrested in an anti-drug operation that was carried out by the National Police when the incident happened.

During the operation, three police officers were hurt and two dogs were shot after they attacked agents during the drug raid, and it has been confirmed that, fortunately, neither of the dogs died in the incident as the officer shot to injure them, not kill them.

The undercover operation, directed by the Court of Instruction Number 4 of Granadilla de Abona, is under summary secrecy, something that local residents who only witnessed the ‘dog’ incident would have been totally unaware of.

In the videos circulating social media and seen in our original article, you can see that the police did open fire on two dogs during the raid as they weren’t muzzled, on a lead, or under their owners' control and attacked one of their colleagues.

Official sources have confirmed these details to DIARIO DE AVISOS, but haven’t updated the state of health of the officers injured in the operation.

One thing also to remember is that a new law was introduced recently to prevent people from filming the police, and in this case, it was an official undercover operation, regardless of their actions.
