Canary Island airports received 4.2 million passengers in April

According to data released by Aena yesterday (Monday), Canary Islands airports welcomed a total of 4,209,085 passengers during the month of April, a 4% increase compared to the same month last year.

Out of these passengers, 4,182,631 were on commercial flights, with 2,473,399 on international routes (including the UK), up by 4%, and 1,709,232 were on domestic routes within Spain, representing a 4.4% increase from April 2023.

Additionally, there were 38,109 aircraft flights in and out of the airports, a 6.9% increase compared to the same month last year, and 2,994 tons of cargo transported, a significant increase of 19%.

By airports, Gran Canaria recorded the highest number of passengers with 1,201,052, representing a 3% increase, following closely is Tenerife South Airport, with 1,098,879 passengers and a notable increase of 7.4%.

César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport had 708,678 travellers (+2.2%); Tenerife North Airport 540,760 passengers (+6.5%); Fuerteventura Airport 508,481 passengers (+0.1%); La Palma Airport 117,956 passengers (+2.6%); El Hierro Airport 23,853 (-1.3%), and La Gomera Airport had 9,426 passengers (-6.6%).

So far this year, Canary Island airports have registered 17,860,901 travellers, marking a significant increase of 10.1% compared to the same period last year.

Out of the 17,717,306 commercial passengers, 11,225,324 were on international flights, showing a substantial increase of 11.9%, and 6,491,982 were on domestic flights, marking an 8.5% increase from the same period in 2023.
