The Ministry of Health has registered 164 new cases and four Covid related deaths in the last 24 hours according to their latest data, of which 97 were in Tenerife, 33 in Gran Canaria, 25 in Fuerteventura, 7 in Lanzarote, and 2 in El Hierro.
All four deaths are also recorded in Tenerife which means that over 400 people have died on that island alone since the pandemic began.
There is some good news today in that active cases have dropped below 4,000 for the first time in two months, a marker that the islands have struggled to drop below, although it is expected they will go up again over the weekend as there are less medical discharges on Saturdays and Sundays.
The SCS is also asking anyone born before 1945 (age 75+) that hasn't had their first vaccination yet, to call 012 to book their appointment as soon as possible.
