The latest weather forecast from AEMET for this weekend, shows a storm coming into the Canary Islands from the northwest that will bring strong winds, overcast skies, and rain to the north and west of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro today, before affecting the rest of the islands on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the forecast, the wind will be the most prominent thing today as rain will only initially affect the more mountainous western islands, and will have a greater impact on La Palma.
This change in weather is due to the passage of a storm through the northwest of the Canary Islands, which is predicted to move northeast, towards the Gulf of Cadiz, so the archipelago will not feel its full effects.
However, the eastern islands, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura, will be affected on Sunday with strong winds and some rain across the whole of the islands.
Today, Friday, overcast skies are expected in the north of the most mountainous islands, with light rains in the early hours of the day, which will tend to clear this afternoon. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will start clear but will cloud over during the afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to remain stable, and may experience a slight rise, and a moderate northeast wind is also expected.
