Cruise tourism in Lanzarote continues to grow strongly, with more than 413,000 passengers arriving in Arrecife between January and August this year.

Figures from the Las Palmas Port Authority show that 413,039 cruise passengers visited the island during the first eight months of 2026, an increase of 14.79% compared with the same period last year.

Arrecife Council expects the number of cruise visitors to exceed 730,000 by the end of the year, further strengthening the capital's position as one of the Canary Islands' major cruise destinations.

The figures come as Lanzarote prepares to welcome another name from the luxury travel market.

The new Four Seasons I, the first vessel from Four Seasons Yachts, is scheduled to call at Arrecife on 6th November during its inaugural sailing season.

The yacht is much smaller than the huge cruise ships regularly visiting the Canary Islands and is aimed firmly at the luxury end of the market.

Its November itinerary begins in Málaga and includes stops in Morocco and the Canary Islands before continuing across the Atlantic.

The arrival will give Lanzarote exposure to a different segment of the cruise market, with passengers travelling aboard a vessel designed around a luxury hotel-style experience rather than conventional mass-market cruising.

Cruise tourism has become increasingly important to Arrecife, bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors into the capital and providing business for shops, restaurants, excursion operators and other tourism businesses.

The latest passenger figures indicate that growth is continuing ahead of the important autumn and winter cruise season.
