Two men have been arrested after the Guardia Civil uncovered a substantial cannabis growing and production operation at a property in Tacoronte, in the north of Tenerife.

The two suspects, aged 25 and 48 and both residents of Tacoronte, are being investigated for suspected offences against public health involving the cultivation and production of cannabis.

The investigation, known as Operation Jardín Sol, began after officers received information about a possible property being used to grow and process drugs.

Investigators carried out surveillance and observed two men carrying out work connected with maintaining the cannabis crop.

After gathering sufficient evidence, officers obtained judicial authorisation to search the property, with the raid taking place on 10 September.

Inside, police discovered areas equipped for both indoor and outdoor cultivation, with separate spaces being used for different stages of growing and production.

Officers seized 142 cannabis plants and another 113 young plants and cuttings, as well as 67 vacuum-packed bags containing approximately eight kilograms of cannabis buds.

Cannabis resin, €1,360 in cash, weighing scales and notebooks containing information relating to production were also seized, along with an air pistol.

The operation involved investigators from the Guardia Civil in Tacoronte, officers from the Canary Islands Reserve and Security Group, two police dogs and public-security patrols.

The two suspects and the evidence seized during the operation have been placed before the judicial authorities.
