3 earthquakes are registered in 10 minutes in La Palma this morning

The National Geographic Institute (IGN) have reported that they detected three earthquakes in less than ten minutes in La Palma this morning between 8.36am and 8.46am.

Two of them were in the Mazo area and the other in Fuencaliente registered at 1.6 and 1.9 on the Richter scale at depths of 11, 16, and 17 kilometres.

These are added to the data recorded so far this year, which now means there have been 372 earthquakes in 2023, with 111 of them on the island of La Palma; 154 in the sea between Tenerife and Gran Canaria; 96 in Tenerife itself; and 11 in El Hierro.

At the same time, INVOLCAN (the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands) has reported that they have created a thermographic model of the Tajogaite volcano in La Palma, where some fissures and edges of the main craters are detailed; with temperatures still around 350 degrees being measured.
