Two electric scooter riders injured in accident after testing positive for alcohol
The riders of two electric scooters were injured in an accident on a main road in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria early yesterday morning after they fell off them because they were going too fast round a corner.
The incident happened at around 3.20am by the entrance to the Avenida Maritima by Avenida Juan XXIII, and the police confirmed that both riders tested positive for drunk driving and were over the allowed alcohol limit.
The two riders also sustained injuries in the accident and needed medical assistance at the side of the road, before being taken by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
The Local Police remind people that new laws are now in place for the use of scooters regarding wearing helmets, riding on pavements, speeding, and use of alcohol, with fines in place for breach of these rules.
