The Guardia Civil discovered the lifeless body of a woman yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) in the municipality of Arona, in a state of decomposition with no apparent signs of violence, according to the official press release from police headquarters.
They were alerted to the presence of a dead body on a disused piece of land in Buzanada, in the south of Tenerife, and believe it is a 72-year-old woman reported missing on October 11th from her home in the area who suffers from some mental health issues and was a user of Social Services in Arona.
The police say that they have had to take her home on several occasions after they found her wandering the streets, saying she didn’t know where she was.
SOS Desaparecidos reported her disappearance last Thursday, October 20th, and her whereabouts have not been known for more than two weeks.
The judicial authority ordered the removal of the body and its transfer to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where an autopsy will be performed to confirm her identity and clarify the cause of death.
