One lucky winner in the south of Tenerife scoops €4 million in ONCE New Year’s Day lottery

The ONCE New Year’s Day lottery has brought joy after distributing a remarkable €4,300,000 in major prizes to the Canary Islands in last night's draw.

Across Spain, the lottery has spread a total of €35,460,000 in winnings, with the Canary Islands securing a significant share of the fortune.

A Lucky Day in Tenerife

In San Isidro, a town in the south of Tenerife, ONCE vendor Ángel Saborido Armario delivered €4 million in prizes. Saborido, stationed in front of Confecciones 99 in the heart of the town, sold 10 winning tickets of the the series 45445, worth €400,000 each.

Saborido, who has only been an ONCE vendor for six months, expressed his astonishment and joy. "I'm in shock but thrilled. I have a brother who’s also a vendor, and now I’ve given out more prizes than he has," he said, smiling.

Prizes in Gran Canaria

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria also celebrated significant wins. Two tickets from the second prize tier (28448), each worth €40,000, were sold, one at a service station in the capital and the other by ONCE vendor Felipe Díaz.

Additionally, 11 third-prize tickets (75973), valued at €20,000 each, were distributed in Las Palmas. Among these, one was sold in Telde by Marcos Andrés Alonso, while the remaining 10 were handled by vendor Pablo Ramón Mirabal.

Nationwide Wins

The ONCE New Years Day lottery, one of Spain’s most eagerly anticipated lottery events, awarded 80 first-tier prizes of €400,000 each, along with an equal number of second (€40,000) and third (€20,000) prizes. This year, the lottery had winners in Andalusia, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Madrid, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia, the Valencian Community, and the Canary Islands.
