INVOLCAN are giving three talks in Adeje about the threat and danger of volcanoes

The Volcanic Institute of the Canary Islands (INVOLCAN) are coming to Adeje in the south of Tenerife next week to hold three seminars entitled "The Canary Islands, a volcanic window in the Atlantic 2023".

They will take place at the Adeje Citizen Participation Centre in Las Nieves, on June 20th, 21st and 22nd from 6:00pm.

These conferences are of vital importance to inform and educate the resident population about the risks associated with living on a volcanic island, and to detail what to do in case of an emergency or eruption laid out by PEVOLCA (the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Attention due to Volcanic Risk in the Canary Islands)

The three talks on volcanic risk:
The first talk will take place on Tuesday June 20th and is titled “Understanding Volcanic Hazards” and will provide an overview of volcanic phenomena and their impact on the region.

The second one the next day (June 21st) is called “Reduce Volcanic Risk” and will focus on actions that can be taken to mitigate the effects of a volcanic eruption.

Finally, on Thursday June 22nd, the last talk "Volcanic Phenomenon and Risk Management in the Canary Islands" will take place, where emergency management and planning will be analysed in the event of a possible eruption.

In addition to acquiring knowledge about volcanic risks, participants will also learn about the measures that society as a whole must take to contribute to reducing these risks.

With this comprehensive approach, the educational program seeks to strengthen the organization and information of the Canarian community in the face of volcanic danger.

If you would like to take part in these seminars, registration can be done in advance through a form enabled on the Adeje website www.adeje.es or you can see a copy here>>
