1 in 3 people in the Canary Islands have had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine

The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has reported that they have now administered 900,343 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, of the 1,000,270 received, which represents 90.01% of those delivered to the archipelago. Up until yesterday, the immunization of 290,533 people had been achieved, which is 15.53% of the target population (1,871,033 people) of the Canary Islands who have completed their vaccination schedule, having already received two doses of the vaccine, or the Janssen single dose.

There are also 625,559 people who have received at least their first jab which is 33.43% of the target population. During yesterday, Wednesday May 19th, a total of 22,306 vaccines were administered in all the islands, the highest number of inoculations per day to date.

The vaccination schedule is following target population groups depending on the number of people in that group and the availability of vaccines, according to the National Vaccination Strategy. In this sense, the vaccination teams in each health zone are advancing with each population group as the previous one ends without stopping, so that the vaccination process is not slowed down.
