The Canary Islands received 2,077 irregular immigrants in 55 boats and cayucos in January, which is 188% more than in the same month last year.
Arrivals to the coasts of the mainland and the Balearic Islands has decreased by 30.1%, although according to the latest data from the Ministry of the Interior, despite this increase, arrivals to the archipelago have continued on a downward trend in recent weeks.
Up until January 31st of this year, 3,214 irregular immigrants have arrived in Spain by land and sea which is 35.6% more than in the same month last year, according to the data published every fifteen days by the Ministry.
The migration flows by sea to the mainland and the Balearic Islands decreased by 30.1%, with the arrival of 779 people in 69 boats, compared to 1,114 in 2020.
