Photographer and drone pilot, Emilio Morenatti, has captured some amazing images of the lava flows in La Palma by flying his drone over some of the remotest areas left by the devastation of the volcano in La Palma, since it erupted last Sunday.
In the images, released by the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands, he has managed to capture the magma ‘carpet’ that is travelling down the western slope of the island, with terrible consequences for everything in its path.
However, suddenly and without an explanation it can be seen that the lava flows have circled a group of houses completely surrounding them with a 10-metre high lava border, leaving them safe from destruction, to the fortune of the owners.
The images taken from the air are truly impressive and never cease to amaze at the destructive power of nature in its pure state, and also by its sometimes strange behaviour that gives some hope.
