A beach in Fuerteventura has been placed under a yellow flag for a shark warning after reports of sightings of hammerhead sharks in the area of the Parador at Playa Blanca in Puerto del Rosario.
According to municipal sources, a patrol on jet skis was conducted following the report, which confirmed the presence of sharks about 200 metres from the shore.
Initially, the flag on the beach was changed to red, but later, it was downgraded to yellow, allowing bathing with caution close to the shore.
Patrols will continue today along the coast to verify if the sharks are still close by or if they have moved on to another area of the ocean.
