The long-awaited rains brought both good and concerning news to the Canary Islands, which has been the region with the most rain in Spain following the passage of a DANA (Isolated High-Level Depression) through the archipelago.
One of the results is that the Puerto del Rosario Council has closed and prohibited bathing at Los Pozos Beach in the capital of Fuerteventura after detecting a possible discharge of dirty water following the intense rainfall.
The decision was made by the Beach Department, which has been closely monitoring the effects on the coastline of the municipality due to the DANA.
The councillor responsible for the department, Toñi Fernández, toured the coast accompanied by technicians, resulting in a positive assessment: the bathing areas of Los Molinos, Puerto Lajas, Playa Blanca, and Las Caletillas did not suffer any damage.
However, Los Pozos Beach has been closed due to a possible discharge, and swimming is prohibited while the Public Health authorities are conducting water tests to determine the nature and extent of these discharges.
