Spain extends UK travel ban for two more weeks

The Spanish Government have officially extended the restriction of UK travel by air and sea for another two weeks until 6pm (mainland time) on January 19th as published in the Boletin Oficial de España (BOE) today.

Issue number 1 of the BOE 2021 says that the central Government of Spain have made the decision because uncertainties remain about the scope of the new variant of SARS-CoV-2 and the need for greater information on the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the United Kingdom.

This means that flights will only operate for repatriation of Spanish nationals or residents, and essential travel as established in the decree, and that tourists from the UK will not be allowed to travel in and out of Spain and its territory, including the Canary Islands.

Only people that have a Spanish passport, green residence card or certificate, or the new TIE card with a negative Covid test result, will be allowed to enter, or anyone that can prove that they have started the residency process, no other paperwork such as NIE, being on the pardon, or proof of property ownership will be permitted access.

The article does say that this can be lifted by the Government prior to the end of the extension for justified reasons.
