The Guardia Civil have arrested three more pickpockets, this time in the south of Tenerife, under the ongoing investigation called 'Operation Danube'.
The three detainees, aged 22, 26, and 38 years old, were arrested after committing crimes of theft in El Médano, in Granadilla de Abona. Even though the police may have several suspects, arrests don’t take place until they have proof of the thefts or catch them red-handed in action.
In this case, the trio were caught in possession of money and mobile phones that they had acquired by taking a bum bag out of someone’s backpack whilst they were walking down the promenade and a wallet that was in someone else’s back pocket.
Officers had been watching these three for some while as they matched the description from several complaints of victims of theft in the area, and were known as habitual thieves, and actually witnessed the two crimes described above.
The stolen effects were recovered and have been returned to their rightful owners, and the detainees, along with the police report, have been brought before the courts.
