There are now 47,716 registered holiday rental properties in the Canary Islands

The number of holiday rental properties available in the Canary Islands reached 47,716 in January 2025, marking a 12% increase compared to the same period last year.

This data is part of the Experimental Holiday Rental Statistics published by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), which monitors the sector's growth.

Tenerife has the most holiday rental properties in the Canary Islands, accounting for 41% of the total. Gran Canaria follows with 22%, while Lanzarote and Fuerteventura have 16% and 13%, respectively.

Altogether, there are now over 202,600 beds in holiday lets available across the islands, an increase of 9.1% compared to January 2024.

High Demand for Reservations

In January alone, over 45,900 holiday homes received at least one booking, representing 96% of all available properties listed on digital rental platforms.

The ISTAC study focuses on holiday rental properties that actively provide accommodation services and are advertised on online booking platforms, offering insight into the rapid expansion of this sector in the Canary Islands.
