The new ALDI supermarket opens its doors in Adeje

ALDI continues with its expansion plan in the Canary Islands after opening a new store today in Adeje, in the south of Tenerife. After opening its first four in July, two in Tenerife and two in Gran Canaria, the company opened one in Las Chafiras at the beginning of August, to which this one is added today. This is the sixth store that ALDI has now opened in the Canary Islands and the fourth one in Tenerife.

The new store will be open 7-days a week from 8:00am to 10:00pm to offer the residents of Adeje, a new comfortable, and simple shopping experience, with quality products at the lowest possible price.

This new state of the art supermarket has a commercial floor space of more than 1,500m2 and has parking for 130 cars, including four charging points for electric vehicles.

Within the framework of ALDI's commitment to energy efficiency and respect for the environment, the new supermarket has solar panels that allow 97% of the energy generated to be used for the consumption of the store itself.

In addition, it has been equipped with LED lighting and home automation, to avoid losses due to breakdowns and improve the operation of lighting and air conditioning. The facilities also use CO2 as a refrigerant gas, which is a more sustainable and efficient alternative to other options available on the market.

During the inauguration of the Adeje store, the head of Expansion of ALDI in the Canary Islands, Agustín Estades, highlighted the generation of local employment as one of the pillars of ALDI's presence in the Canary Islands.  "The company's commitment to the Canary Islands is manifested through the promotion of employment in the areas and islands in which we are based, but also with support for local producers, who are a fundamental pillar of our business model," he said.

For the six stores that the company has already opened in the Canary Islands, ALDI has hired more than 200 people locally. By the end of the year, they will have generated more than 240 jobs in the region, including office staff, floor staff, and at the logistics platform in Gran Canaria.
