According to a press release from the Guardia Civil, a dead body was found last night (Monday) by locals in the vicinity of Piedra Hincada in Guia de Isora in the south of Tenerife.
Although there are limited details at this time, the statement does say that the cause of death is being treated as suicide, pending police investigation and autopsy, due to “self-inflicted” knife wounds visible on the man’s body.
Locals say they have been able to identify the man, but no official details as to his age, name, or nationality have been released at this stage.
According to witnesses, he was a “foreigner” who lived alone in the area and was known locally for having some mental health problems.
After the Guardia Civil protected the body, it was taken by the judicial authorities for formal identification and autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
