Tenerife guarantees a place to stay for Ukrainian tourists who can’t go home

The president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Pedro Martín, and the central Government representative, Anselmo Pestana, have had a meeting with members of the Ukrainian Oberig Association to find out more about the situation of Ukrainians residing on the island, and the tourists who were in Tenerife when the conflict began, and cannot return home to their country.

Martín said that the Cabildo is collaborating as much as possible with the people who have had no choice but to stay on the island, to guarantee temporary accommodation for those families who are in a more urgent situation and has already got collaboration from the hotels via Ashotel, which have shown their total willingness to help until a more stable alternative is found.

The meeting addressed the situation that is taking place with the exodus of Ukrainians to safer parts of Europe, and the central Government representative in the Canary Islands has collected information from the people who are on the island who cannot return to their own country, in addition, to advise them on the European agreement to guarantee the protection of refugees from Ukraine.
