Tenerife firefighters battle a fire in a building in San Isidro

According to a report from the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the fire brigade were dispatched to a burning building in San Isidro (Grandilla de Abona) in the south of Tenerife on Sunday night, located on Calle José Ventura.

They were alerted at 1:15am on Sunday night informing them that a fire had broken out in a residential building and that some tenants had gone up to the roof to get away from the flames.

According to firefighters, the fire broke out in the basement of the building and had spread into corridors and then people’s homes, but fortunately, they were able to get it under control quickly and rescue all the tenants.

In total, three people were treated by paramedics, one of them only 12-years-old, and were transferred to the hospital for routine observation.

The young girl had moderate poisoning due to smoke inhalation, and was taken to the Hospital Universitario Ntra. de La Candelaria.

The Local Police were present during the incident and secured the area, facilitating access for the emergency services, and the Guardia Civil have opened an investigation to find the cause of the fire.
