A man has suffered a serious head injury after falling several metres onto rocks at Los Hervideros on the coast of Yaiza, in Lanzarote.
The incident occurred at around 3:00pm yesterday, Saturday, when the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert reporting the accident.
They immediately dispatched the relevant emergency resources to the location given.
SUC medical personnel and firefighters managed to reach the man, who was in a difficult location to access, and provided initial medical assistance. However, Local Police informed CECOES that it was not possible to carry out the rescue safely by land and requested aerial support.
Subsequently, a GES helicopter was dispatched and airlifted the injured man to a nearby car park where medical teams and an ambulance were waiting.
The man, who was found to have suffered a serious head injury, at the time of initial assessment, was then transferred by ambulance to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for urgent treatment.
