Stranded sailing boat surprises residents of El Medano

The unexpected sight of a beached sailing boat on the coast of El Médano, in the south of Tenerife, left locals astonished yesterday afternoon (Monday) due to the dramatic drop in the tide.

The boat was sitting entirely out of the water, a sight that particularly caught the attention of residents who took advantage of the opportunity to capture the perfect photo with the sunset and the backdrop of the iconic Montaña Roja behind it.

As of now, the identity of the boat’s owner remains unknown, and it appears that they may not have anticipated the condition of the tides and the depth of the area.

According to the Tide Table, the municipality of Granadilla de Abona experienced a minimum sea level of -0.8 meters at 6:54pm, after which the water level started to rise, with high tide expected in 4 hours and 49 minutes later 11.43pm when the boat was once again afloat.
