'Scooter Drug Dealer' arrested in the Canary Islands

The National Police have arrested a 28-year-old individual in the La Isleta neighborhood of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The suspect, who was riding an electric scooter at the time of his arrest, was found in possession of 10.7 grams of cocaine, 12 grams of heroin, 5.4 grams of crack cocaine, and over 800 euros in cash.

According to a statement released by the Regional Police Headquarters this morning (Friday), the detainee, who has a lengthy criminal record, is suspected of drug trafficking. His arrest came after several local residents had alerted authorities to a possible drug dealing point in the area with a dealer on a scooter.

The statement further noted that the suspect had emerged from a residential building known to be associated with drug sales. Consequently, law enforcement officers intercepted him, conducted an identity check, and subsequently performed a security pat-down.

During the search, the narcotics were discovered concealed in a waist pouch, leading to the individual's immediate detention.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in the Canary Islands to combat drug-related activities, particularly those near educational institutions and residential areas. The suspect is set to face serious legal consequences as a result of his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
