Man stabbed in the genitals during the eviction of a squatter

A violent incident led to the arrest of a man in Vecindario, Gran Canaria, yesterday, after he allegedly attacked an employee of a property clearing company, responsible for evicting squatters.

The altercation broke out around midday on Calle Ampuyenta and when Guardia Civil officers arrived, they found several people arguing, including the injured man, whose trousers were stained with blood. A female colleague explained that he had been assaulted, prompting the officers to call an ambulance immediately.

The victim had suffered a severe knife wound to his scrotum, and was quickly taken to Insular Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for emergency surgery due to the seriousness of his injury.

He explained that the confrontation happened while he was working at a building on Calle Ampuyenta, where a woman had previously thrown bleach at him from a window. On the day of the attack, as he approached the woman's door, her husband, reportedly of North African origin, appeared with a large knife. During the struggle that followed, the victim was stabbed in the genitals.

The situation escalated further when another neighbour joined in, attacking and punching the victim. The police eventually arrested the alleged attacker, who is now facing charges of aggravated bodily harm. The injured worker was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery, highlighting the severity of the attack.

This incident highlights the dangers and potential for violence in situations involving property disputes and evictions.
