Man killed in head-on crash between a car and a lorry in Fuerteventura
A man has died after a head-on collision between a car and a lorry in Fuerteventura that happened early this morning (Thursday) on the FV-2 road near Los Alares in the municipality of Antigua.
The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) responded to an alert for help at just after 7:00am and dispatched the necessary resources to the location given.
Firefighters and SUC paramedics were the first to arrive at the scene of the accident, and fire crews made sure the vehicles were safe before medical personnel could treat the driver of the car, who was trapped inside his vehicle.
However, upon assessment, all they could do was confirm that he had been killed in the impact due to the severity of his injuries.
The 51-year-old lorry driver also suffered multiple injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to the General Hospital in Puerto Rosario for further treatment.
The Guardia Civil also attended, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is now underway.
